Here’s a simple melt-in-your-mouth recipe for golden apple fritters. Very easy to make – this soft and luscious pastry is bursting with apples and drizzled with a light sugar glaze. Ingredients (Apple Fritters)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1/4 tsp cardamom
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 -3 cups chopped apples (any kind), small pieces
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- Oil (for frying)
- 1 ¼ cups confectioners sugar
- ¼ tsp vanilla
- 3-6 tsp milk
Method
Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 4-6 min
(Serves 10)
- Heat, over medium-heat, a shallow pan with oil (needs to reach 375 degrees Farenheit). Then, whisk together all the dry ingredients (excluding the powdered sugar) and add the milk and eggs. After your apples have been chopped, fold them into the batter.
- Once the oil has reached the desired temperature start frying your fritters; for each one, you can use a 1/4 cup measure and use your hands or a spoon to gently drop the mixture into the oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides (you can also use a toothpick to test the doneness).
- Drain the fritters on a paper-towel; meanwhile, make your glaze using the last three ingredients listed above. The glaze shouldn’t be extremely thin or thick (somewhere in the middle). Using a cooling rack drizzle the glaze over the fritters.
- Let set for about 10 minutes and serve warm.
- Enjoy!
