If you’re feeling like you need to stay healthy, but longing for something to accompany your cup of Chai, I may have the perfect solution for you. Colored golden with healthy turmeric and flavored with just the right amount of cardamom, these butter cookies serve up very nicely next to a tea cup. The recipe blends some secrets of the east into the familiar goodness of a western cookie. Each flavorful, soft bite will melt in your mouth.

Ingredients (Turmeric Cookies)

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup almond flour
  • 4-7 tsp milk
  • small pinch of saffron
  •  3/4 cup + 3 tbsp powdered sugar

Method

Prep Time: 10 min

Cook Time: 20 min

Serves (8-10)

  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Farenheit. Then combine all of your ingredients, excluding the milk, saffron, and extra powdered sugar (3/4 cup + 3tbsp).
  2. Roll the dough into small balls, making sure to leave no visible cracks; place the prepared balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake for 20 min, or until the bottom is golden. Let the cookies cool for a minimum of 30 min.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the icing with the last three ingredients (you don’t want a runny glaze). Spoon some of the mixture onto each cookie and garnish with sprinkles, flowers, etc.
  5. Serve and enjoy!
