This scrumptious dessert is the perfect addition to any holiday menu or Sunday brunch. Rich strawberry cream fills the flaky interior of a puff that is lovingly glazed with chocolate on the outside. Each bite has multiple textures and flavors that come together with satisfying sweetness. Although they sound elaborate, the recipe is surprisingly easy to deliver!

Ingredients (Strawberry Chocolate Cream Puffs)

  • 12-17 strawberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 egg yolks
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Prep Time: 20-25 min

Cook Time: 40-50 min

(Serves 15-17)

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Cut the tops off the strawberries and finely cut.
  2. In a pot over low-medium heat, combine egg yolks, heavy cream, sugar, and cornstarch. Then whisk on medium high until the mixture thickens. Once the mixture starts to thicken, fold in the strawberries. Chill the mixture in a bowl with plastic covering touching the top of the mixture.
  3. In a pot, combine the water and butter, bringing it to a boil. Add the flour and stir until the dough comes. Remove from heat
  4. Add in the vanilla and eggs one a time, stirring until the dough becomes “pipeable” (: On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, pipe 1-inch circles.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes until the pastry has thoroughly dried. Transfer the chilled cream into a piping bag. Poke a hole in the center of the bottom of each cream puff and fill each puff with the pastry cream.
  6. Microwave the chocolate. Dip the top of each filled cream puff into the chocolate
  7. Serve and enjoy!
