Apple-picking is one of my favorite fall activities! And what better way to kick off this season than with
the moist goodness of apple-brownies, perfectly infused with fall flavors. Adding walnuts is optional.
Any firm apples will work, but Granny Smith is my go-to variety for this recipe.
Ingredients (Apple Brownies)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 3 medium apples – peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
Method
Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 30-35 min
(Serves 14)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan. In a large bowl, beat together the melted butter, sugar, and egg until fluffy.
- Fold in the apples. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and spices.
- Mix the flour mixture into the wet mixture until just combined. Spread the batter in the
prepared baking dish. - Bake for 30-35 minutes in the oven until a toothpick can come out clean after inserted into the dish.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
