Barbecue sauce is considered a traditional American flavor. It’s the perfect addition to a warm summer evening and I simply love the tangy, sweet smell of succulent meat as it’s grilled to perfection. Try these barbecued chicken skewers drenched in the zesty goodness of a homemade barbecue sauce enriched with Indian garlic and paprika. You simply can’t go wrong with such fun fusion!

Ingredients (Barbecue Chicken Skewers)

  • 12 boneless chicken thigh pieces
  • 6 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Grated zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 red and 1 yellow pepper (cut into pieces)

Method

Prep Time: 40 min

Cook Time: 13-15 min

  1. Place all the ingredients, besides the chicken and peppers, into a small saucepan and simmer the mixture until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Prepare a bowl of chicken thigh pieces (make sure to cut bigger pieces into smaller bits). Add the sauce to the chicken and marinate for a minimum of 30 min.
  3. Skewer the chicken pieces alternating with the peppers using long wooden toothpicks. Line the bottom of a broiler pan with foil and broil the skewers for 12-15 min until the chicken is cooked through.
  4. Serve fresh and enjoy!
